Tattykeel and Camden Valley Australian White rams were in very high demand at the Narrandera showgrounds on Tuesday, as return and new clients from across Eastern Australia rushed to get their slice of the lucrative Aussie White pie.

All 91 lots on offer sold with a Tattykeel stud ram attracting the top price of $13,000, more than double the sale's top price last year of $5000.

Overall the 71 rams averaged $5725, while the 50 ewes on offer sold for a $1549 average.

Last year Tattykeel secured their place in the history books when they broke records to sell an Aussie White ram for $53,000.

The joint sale, held in Narrandera for its central location for Tattykeel and Camden Valley clients, started with the offering of 38 commercial Camden Valley ewes, sold in lots of five and four.

The ewes reached a top price of $1000 per head and average of $801.

Next up was 12 Camden Valley stud ewes which sold to a top of $5250 and average of $3917.

The first eight ewes, November 2019-drop, had been joined with the $46,000 Tattykeel ram, purchased last year by Camden Valley as part of a syndicate.

The highly-anticipated 40 Tattykeel rams were next under the gavel and it was long-time clients, Phillipa and Daniel Jones, Condobolin who nabbed the first one for the top-price of $13,000.

Ms Jones said they had had Aussie Whites for around eight years now.

"We're very happy with what Tattykeel are doing and I think it's just important to keep up with their newest genetics," she said.

The Jones said even during the drought they were getting really great lambing and joining percentages with their Tattkeel-blood Aussie Whites.

"We do a lot of cropping as well and they just fit in, they're easy-care, such low-maintenance animals," Ms Jones said.

The ram was by renowned sire Tattykeel Trump and was out of Tattykeel 170533.

He was one of four rams the Jones purchased, the commercial buyers taking home a second ram for $10,500 and two more for $8000 and $6500.

The first six Tattykeel stud rams averaged $10,500, while the 40 went for an average of $7138.

Camden Valley finished out the sale with their 31 rams, which sold for a top of $7000, for a stud ram, and average of $3903.

Camden Valley stud principal Josh Clinton said it was the best top and average price they had seen.

"I think the interest in the breed is driving it, the breed's doing the job and word is getting around," Mr Clinton said.

"We had people here bring their neighbours and their neighbours were buying today, that's how it's growing."

AuctionsPlus bidders purchased 29 of the 91 lots on offer equating to just over 32 per cent.

But the in-person buyers were not to be outdone, with Aussie White enthusiasts from Queensland and all over NSW travelling to be at the standing-room only event.

Tattykeel stud principal Graham Gilmore said the Australian White interest was not going away.

"There's a perfect storm out there," Mr Gilmore said.

"People want to get into the breed and people realise buying the quality is where they're getting rewarded."

The sale was conducted by QPL Rural with Miles Pfitzner as auctioneer.
