Superfine Stanley Vale ram hits $1400
Stanley Vale tops at $1400 and averages $741
A loyal following of clients attending the annual Stanley Vale merino sale at Uralla on Friday helping vendors Tim and Dom Bower achieve a top price of $1400 and average $741 of 12 rams sold at auction from 34 offered.
Unfortunately many long term supporters of the Bower family have either left the merino industry or haven't restocked fully since the drought.
Nutrien agent Brad Wilson controlled the bids and had to wait late in the draft to knock down lot 29 for the sale topping $1400.
The ram has a standard deviation of 2.1 and a micron of 17.1.
Warwick Perrett of Wandsworth secured the top priced ram.
"I am a long time supporter of Stanley Vale," he said
"He was selected for his better styled wool, he will be heavy cutting and therefore increase cut on my clip and he had a high curve."
Mr Perrett runs a stylish superfine non muelsed flock.
The ram was part of a draft of three Mr Perrett secured for an average of $666.
Shane Morris, Silverton, Bendemeer purchased two rams for a $600 average.
" I selected rams with extra frame and a nice style of wool," he said
"They will be used to bring my flock back to a finer styled wool."
Grant Donnelly, Eldorado, Glen Innes purchased two rams also for a $700 average.
"I am a long time supporter who knows the wonderful job the rams do," he said
Figures, confirmation and wool style were Mr Donnelly's select criteria when selecting suitable rams.
The sale was conducted by Nutrien Armidale.
