Light weight yearling heifers to restockers sell to 572c, average 540c at Toowoomba

Young cattle continued to experience strong support at Toowoomba.

The supply of stock increased by 290 head to 426, the largest number penned for eight weeks at the Toowoomba cattle sale.

Good quality young cattle were in the largest numbers along with a handful of cows and a few heavy weight bulls. Buyer attendance was good with representatives covering all categories, and some additional restockers were included in the buying panel.

Young cattle continued to experience strong support. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market improved in price, and light weight yearling heifers were noticeably dearer.

A large selection of light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 565c to 602c with the occasional pen to 610c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 449c to 508c with an isolated sale to 524c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background made to 572c to average 540c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 462c and made to 492c, and a small sample of heavy weights averaged 442c and made to 449c/kg.

Medium weight 3 score cows averaged 272c, and the occasional good cow made to 294c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 347c with some returning $3745/head. Cows and calves made to $2750/unit.
