Angus weaner steers sell to sale top of 620c at Murgon
Weaners reached record heights at Murgon.
There were 950 yarded in Murgon on Monday with the market strong for all descriptions. Export values remained firm. Feeder prices were also firm to a shade dearer. Weaners reached record heights with steers selling to 620c/kg and heifers to 600c. Cattle were drawn from Tiaro, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Hawkwood, Durong, Kilkivan, Yarraman, Nanango and locally.
Bulls sold to 338c and $2850. Bullocks sold to 384c and $2590.
Cows over 500kg sold to 326c and $2140, averaging 310c. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to 326c for an average of 303c. Cows under 400kg sold to 310c. Export heifers topped at 353c and $1850.
Santa steers from Nanango sold for $1830 at 456c. Limousin cross steers 435kg from Hivesville sold for 450c returning $1958. A draft of 48 Droughtmaster steers from Tansey sold for an average of $1871 at 441c, topping at $1977. Charbray steers 307kg from Tansey sold to $1593 at 519c. Local Red Angus steers weighing 306kg sold for $1544 and 504c.
Euro cross steers weighing 320kg sold for $1592 at 495c. A draft of 116 Braford weaner steers from Gayndah sold for 609c for an average of $1428, the lead pen topping at $1736. Angus weaner steers from Proston sold to a sale top of 620c for $1298. 2 pens of Charbray weaner steers from Hawkwood sold for 541c to return $1542 and $1314. Braford cross weaner steers from Mt Perry sold for $1460 at 544c.
480kg Euro cross heifers from Hivesville sold for 400c and $1920. Local Angus heifers weighing 306kg sold for $1381 at 440c. Red Angus heifers with a weight of 323kg also sold for 440c and $1425. Braford weaner heifers from Gayndah sold for a top of $1463, averaging $1232 and 585c. Angus heifers from Proston sold for 584c for $1182. Light Angus heifers topped at 600c.
