Yearling steers hit record 520c at Mareeba
Several saleyard records were broken at Mareeba this week.
Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 326 head at this week's prime and special store cattle sale, an increase of 194 on the previous week.
One local processor was present along with four traders, a large gallery of local spectators and a few local buyers. Several saleyard records were broken along with a new saleyard record for yard average 374.59c averaging $1169.61/head.
New saleyard records were set for mickeys, heifers, yearling heifers and yearling steers.
The yarding consisted of 67 steers averaging 396.5c selling to a top of 448.2c, 50 bulls averaging 356.5c selling to a top of 450.2c (new saleyard record for mickeys), 32 cows averaging 238.6c selling to a top of 306.2c, 88 heifers averaging 360.9c selling to a top of 450.2c (new saleyard record), 41 yearling heifers averaging 395.5c selling to a top of 450.2c (new saleyard record) and 47 yearling steers averaging 458.6c selling to a top of 520.2c (new saleyard record).
