Wednesday Wodonga weaner sales begin

Rolling coverage as 3200 Angus weaner steers and heifers go up for auction during the Corcoran Parker Annual Premier Angus Special Store Cattle Sale.

THERE’S a feeling on anticipation in the air as the first of the annual Wodonga weaner sales at the Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange, Barnawartha, are about to kick off this morning.

All up about 3200 Angus weaner steers and heifers are up for sale from 10.30am today during the Corcoran Parker Annual Premier Angus Special Store Cattle Sale.

This sale is a first for Corcoran Parker as it normally sells its clients’ weaners at the Thursday sale.

Another first for the Wodonga weaner sales is an online streaming and bidding service for all feature sales throughout January.

Provided by the NVLX and StockLive the system provides buyers with the opportunity to actively participate in the live auction from anywhere in the world.

“Offering this service to our clients allows our facilities to maximise their exposure to buyer markets allowing interested parties to watch the sale and participate in the live auction,” said southern regional manager, James Thompson.

“I expect though that the strong demand from buyers physically onsite will see potential online buyers needing to be aggressive if they wish to source some of these premium weaners.

“The new year sales have a reputation as being the best in Victoria for a very good reason and this is why buyers travel from all over Australia to access the best stock available.”
