Weaner steers top at 546c, average 499c at Emerald
There was a yarding of just under 1600 at Emerald on Thursday.
Emerald agents yarded just under 1600 head this week, and with a full panel of buyers, good results were observed across the yard.
Heavy bullocks over 550kg sold to a top of 381c to average 375c, bullocks from 500-550kg made to 415c to average 394c, steers from 400-500kg topped at 434c to average 415c, feeder weight steers from 350-400kg sold to 492c to average 447c, 280-350kg steers sold to a top of 530c to average 487c, while weaner steers from 200-280kg topped at 546c to average 499c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg sold to a top of 436c to average 381c, 350-400kg feeder heifers sold to 405c to average 360c, 280-350kg heifers sold to 468c to average 385c, 200-280kg weaner heifers sold to a top of 488c to average 421c, while heifers under 200kg sold to a top of 486c to average 443c.
Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 330c to average 280c, cows from 450-520 kg sold to 298c to average 272c, while heavy bulls over 600kg topped at 357c to average 284c.
The Esmond family, Lucknow, Emerald, sold Droughtmaster bullocks to 360c weighing 701kg to return $2576. Gordon Mallory, Capella, sold Charolais steers to 381c weighing 620kg to return $2363/head. Brodie Harvey, Butha, Willows, sold Charolais heifers to 458c to weigh 328kg to return $1506.
