Steers 280-350kg top at 424c, av 377c at Emerald

There were 1800 cattle offered at Emerald on Thursday.

Emerald Agents offered a reduced yarding on Thursday to pen just over 1800 head.

There was a mixed offering of cattle with the select lines increasing in rate by up to 25c/kg.

Heavy steers over 550kg topped at 347c, 400-500kg steers made to 387c to average 365c, with 350-400kg steers making to 394c to average 373c, while steers in the 280-350kg steers topped at 424c to average 377c.

Heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 367c to average 341c, while heifers 350-400kg made to 377c, and 280-350kg heifers made to 373c to average 342c.

Cows topped to 304ckg for the types over 520kg while 450-520kg cows made to 300c. The best of the cows are calves made to $1630/unit.

The Mclucas family, Roper Valley, Middlemount, sold Santa cross cows to 293c to weigh 496kg or $1455. Scott and Julie-Ann Brown, Maywin Park, Middlemount, sold Brangus cows to 308c and weighed 520kg or $1602.

The Cox family, Mt Surprise, Alpha, sold Brahman cross cows to 288c to weigh 444kg or $1279. Jono and Carmel Tibbles, Westlyn, Springsure, consigned Droughtmaster cross heifers to 355c to weigh 286kg and $1016.

Ken and Evelyn O'Brien, Myrtle Park, Comet, sold Droughtmaster cross heifers to 341c and weighed 361kg or $1232. Rob and Kylie Cunningham, Myrtle Park, Comet, sold Speckle Park cross heifers making to 348c to weigh 425kg or $1479.
