Steer calves reach top of 492.2c at Dalby
There was a reduced supply of 3055 cattle at Dalby sale on Wednesday.
There was a large reduction in supply to 3055 head at Dalby on Wednesday, and overall quality was good to useful with some supplementary fed classes included in the line-up.
Buyer attendance was generally good, however not all the major exporters were operating.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock experienced little change from the improved prices the previous week. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed were firm to 7c/kg dearer.
Light weight yearling heifers to restockers were in demand, and averaged 20c to 40c/kg better. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed and processors averaged 5c to 6c/kg dearer.
Cows to processors experienced some small improvements of 3c to 5c/kg, compared to the reduced prices of the previous week. Plain condition cows returning to the paddock lifted in price by 6c/kg.
A small sample of steer calves returned to the paddock at 492.2c, and heifer calves made to 418.2c/kg. Light weight yearling steers sold to restockers at an average of 434c, with some to 486c/kg.
Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 426.2c to average 403c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 408c to average 398c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers made to 408c, with a good sample averaging 387c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 398c, with a large selection averaging 373c/kg.
Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 385c to average 368c, and processor lines averaged 348c and made to 381c/kg.
A handful of heavy grown steers to export processors made to 377c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows returned to the paddock at 262c, and made to 268c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 249c and made to 259c, and 3 scores averaged 273c/kg. Good heavy cows made to 303.2c with a large number averaging 290c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 351c.
