Weaner steers hit 337.2c at Moreton
Quality vealers and yearlings were firm to slightly easier with strong competition for the sought after backgrounding lines at Moreton cattle sale on January 23.
Agents Boyd O’Brien Bartholomew yarded 490 head on January 23 at Moreton. A full panel of export buyers were present but prices continued to slowly fall on cows and ox.
Limited feeder operators were in attendance which saw demand ease for the quality on offer. Quality vealers and yearlings were firm to slightly easier with strong competition for the sought after backgrounding lines.
Angus cross vealer heifers from F Byran sold for 300.2c/kg weighing 182.5 kg to return $547. F Winten sold Bonsmara cross yearling heifers for 299.2c weighing 178kg to return $533.
Droughtmaster yearling steers from R Dale sold for 337.2c weighing 175kg to return $590. Lodge Management sold Charbray pasture ox for 274.2c weighing 537kg to return $1473. J Price sold charolais cross feeders steers for 296.2c weighing 371kg to return $1100.
J Price also sold charolais cross feeder heifers for 285.2c weighing 387kg to return $1105. Grain assist Droughtmaster heifers from B&G Bidgood sold for 269.2c weighing 433kg to return $1166. GMP Nominees sold Brahman cross medium cows for 219.2c weighing 590kg to return $1293.
Charbray cows from K&L Jackson sold for 227.2c weighing 625kg to return $1420. Littlemore Farms sold Santa cross bulls for 252.2c weighing 785 kg to return $1979.
