Droughtmasters hit the headlines on the final day of the annual February All Breeds bull and female sale at CQLX, Gracemere.

Topping the second day with a $40,000 sale, the breed posted an average at auction of $9420 for the 44 bulls that sold under the hammer. This equated to a 67 per cent clearance at auction.

Market topper was the 26-month-old Sommer Baloo offered by Daniel and Teneale Sommer, Sommer stud, Maleny. The 910 kilogram, 138sq cm EMA son of Glenlands Titans sold to Beth and Remy Streeter, Palmvale Droughtmaster stud, Marlborough.

The second day's trade saw 135 bulls from 12 breeds and composites average $7970 for a 77pc clearance at auction.

Over the two days, a total of 244 bulls sold to a record $42,500 to average $7898 for a 77pc auction clearance and 21 heifers hit $19,000 to average $5810 for a total clearance.

Culminating in a $2.049m gross, the sale saw clearance levels remain consistent over the two days.

On the final day, sectional toppers included Brangus selling to $15,000, Charbrays to $12,500, Charmasters to $10,000, Charolais to $13,000, Simmentals at $12,000 (twice), and Simbrahs hit a high of $10,000.
