Brangus weaner steers top at 424c/$1008.65 at Gracemere

Store cattle were sought after at Gracemere with re-stockers being very competitive.


CQLX combined agents presented a yarding of 2064 on Wednesday, consisting of 794 steers, 916 heifers, 250 cows, 20 bulls and 84 cows and calves. With patchy rain around the area the market sold to a firm trend.

Prime cattle held prices on the previous weeks rate, with a full panel of buyers operating. Feeder cattle were met by strong competition with prices remaining firm. Store cattle including store cows were well sought after with re-stockers again being very competitive, with better quality seeing an improvement in price. Lines of cows and calves were unable to hold the strong prices from previous weeks with a decline in quality.


Steers 400-500kg made 370c/kg, average 352c, steers 300-400kg reached 406c, average 368c, steers 200-300kg made 424c, average 379c and steers under 200kg sold to 424c, average 389c.

Slaughter cows sold to 287c, average 273c, cows 400-450kg made 288c, average 267c, cows 320-400kg reached 306c, average 258c, and cows under 320kg made 260c, average 250c.

Heavy heifers sold to 362c, average 338c, heifers 300-400kg made 360c, average 331c, heifers 200-300kg reached 348c, average 306c, and heifers under 200kg made 324c, average 297c.

Cows and calves sold to $1625/unit, average $1209/unit.

Bulls over 600kg made 300c, average 287c, bulls 450-600kg reached 315c, average 250c and bulls under 450kg sold to 404c, average 313c.
