The new John Deere N500C precision air seeder wins innovation award

John Deere is celebrating following the news its new N500C series air drill has been recognised as one of the 50 most innovative agricultural product-engineering designs in the world.

Awarded by the American Society of Agriculture and Biological Engineers, the AE50 award celebrated outstanding innovation that improves production agriculture, saving producers' time, costs and labour.

Replacing the 1990 CCS Series Air Drill, the all-new N500C no-till precision seeder boasts greater seed capacity along with a host of precision placement technologies.

John Deere director for production and precision agriculture Joel Dawson said the award celebrated the company's commitment to innovation.

"AE50 Awards reaffirm the innovative spirit of our employees and illustrate John Deere's commitment to bring those linked to the land the most useful, high-quality products possible," he said.

"No one in the industry invests more in research and development than John Deere, and we remain committed to that strategy.

"Our engineers take great pride in creating new technology and products to benefit our customers."

Mr Dawson said a number of new precision technologies had been included on the N500C, including tank scales for on-the-go seeding calibration, real time row monitoring of seed flow and cabin driven control of seeding down-force.

"The N500C Series Air Drill gives operators easy meter access, the latest in integrated technology for improved seed placement accuracy, and control and confidence to help them do the best seeding job possible for cereals, canola, soybeans and other crops," he said.
